BUILDING ON OUR SUCCESS: EXPANDING ACCESS TO MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS AT WESTERN CANADA HIGH SCHOOL

Following the success of our menstrual product drive, the Committee for the Status of Women and Girls is taking the next step in addressing period equity within our school, Upon noticing the abundance of empty and abandoned tampon and pad dispensers, we are launching an initiative to provide free and accessible menstrual products in the school bathrooms for all students who need them.
To ensure this program meets the needs of the student body, we are actively gathering feedback through surveys and discussions. Our goal is to create a sustainable system that makes menstrual care more accessible, reduces stigma, and ensures that no student has to go without necessary products.
At CSWAG, we believe that access to menstrual products is just as essential as access to other hygiene supplies, and this initiative builds upon our previous efforts to support those in need. By bringing this change to our own school, we hope to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.

FALL / WINTER 2024
MENSTRUAL PRODUCT DRIVE

From September to October of 2024, The Committee for the Status of Women and Girls, CSWAG, hosted a menstrual product drive at Western Canada High School. We collected unopened boxes of pads and tampons to support the Women’s Center of Calgary. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our club members, student body, and the special support of Ms. Meiers, we successfully gathered over 9,000 individual products!
This donation will provide essential supplies to approximately 360 people for one month or 30 people for an entire year, helping those in need access menstrual care with dignity.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed–your kindness and support made this initiative a remarkable success!
